Where did the day go?

THANKING THE DAY

Too many nights I sit on my couch and say I should have gotten more done today. I rewrite the to-do list for the next day and get ready to do it all over again. One day I said to myself "Is this list ever going to end?!!" The stark answer to that is NO!!. So if there will always be a never ending list of chores to perform how do I get it done without exhausting myself every day?

Time Management

Waking to dread the day can create undue stress and can quickly become an old pattern. There had to be an easier way to navigate the day without a midday meltdown. I wish I had learned this earlier in life, but now that I can see the positive results I want to share them.

My first lesson was learning to accept that my day will most likely NOT go the way I envisioned it. This forced me to face the unexpected changes that always seem to inevitably arise. Facing them in a calm fashion came much later. The picture above represents just one moment in the fluctuating landscape, never the same, always in flux. This is how I view the day unfolding. When that thunderstorm rolls in disguised as a fender bender everything comes to a halt. Life is quickly rerouted without our consent. A very unsettling feeling for anyone. How do we keep these upsets from shedding a dark cloud on the rest of our day, or the many to follow?

This Too Shall Pass...
